Colonel L.A.Hope was awarded the C.B. in respect of his services in the Sudan campaign 1896-98. He was twice mentioned in despatches (London Gazettes 30 September 1896 and 10 September 1901) he held the office Aide-de-camp to HM Queen Victoria

Lieutenant H.L.Hope was also mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 7 July 1919) and was thrice wounded in the course of the great war.
