I bought this engine as a spare for my Elan ... but don`t need it just yet ... so thought I would offer it here first , instead of putting it in to storage .
It`s had an expensive upgrade to a tractable 140+ bhp fast road spec` , including brand new L14 cams ( 410" approx lift ) , with all new pistons ( QED + 40" ) , bearings , valves ( inlet Big Valve 1.56/Exhaust 1.325 ) , guides , seats , cam bearings , buckets etc., along with a brand new Burton Flywheel c/w new ring gear & new 3 piece standard clutch , all fully balanced with the crank ( 20/20) , rods & front pulley ... with graphogen protecting the bores etc ., ...
The head is fully ported ( will take 45`s or 40`s ) & is particularly nice with good thickness at 4.603" ... has had a professional repair to the timing chest , freshly painted with all new hardware ... & is ready to refit to the block ( left off so all new parts can be seen ) , with a new head gasket set included .
Naturally , the water pump & timing chain are all new ( even the sump is ) & has a new standard oil pump fitted but I have a brand new high pressure one if required instead .
I was going to use the cam cover & ancillaries ( carb`s , dizzy , fuel pump, starter & alternator ) off my existing engine ... you will need to do the same .
This genuine L Block has square caps , a 6 bolt crank & has the engine number LP 12031 LBA , which is approximately 1968 ... so , is ideal for an Elan , MK2 Cortina or even Escort Twincam .
This engine has had a full "meticulous rebuild" , ready for a discerning owner !
