Newser keeps it short: all you need to know about the day's biggest and most fascinating stories, told in just 250 words. Newser's editors hand-pick the best stories from hundreds of sources and summarize them into sharply written, easy-to-digest news briefs. And we're looking to add to our team.

We’re hiring for our overnight editor slot and need someone who know his/her way around news; who has an ear for concise, punchy writing; who is obsessive about clean copy; and who is comfortable working from home (we're an entirely virtual company).
The position is Mon-Fri, a 3-hour shift each day: ideally 2-5am EST, or an hour before/after. It is a writing-intensive position. Prior professional news writing/editing experience is a MUST, as is a familiarity with US politics.
Think you're a good fit? Show us. Please write a pithy headline, deck, and two-paragraph (roughly 250 words total) summary of the story below. PLEASE use the stories on Newser.com as a guide to both voice and length--we're looking for someone who can jibe with our very specific style. Our stories aggregate multiple sources, so feel free to incorporate (and cite) details from other publications.
Please email us your brief along with a resume and cover letter briefly outlining why you're perfect for us.
